Dimly, our parents and grandparents remember singing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ every morning in school. For a stretch of time, the American flag waved above (or beside) the Philippine flag in all the public structures in most Filipino towns.
The Treaty of Paris was signed during the month of August. The Treaty wherein Spain “sold” the Philippines to the US for $20 Million.
Let’s ask Lizza Nakpil what she has studied and observed about this period in our nation’s history.
We also want to find out how the Phil-Am agreements of yore still affect us today.

August 2nd, 2008 at 10:46 AM
August 2nd, 2008 at 10:47 AM
August 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 AM
August 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 PM
Paano natin to maiiwasan?

August 4th, 2008 at 11:06 AM
I’m not good in history. But I’m really interested to learn. Unfortunately, most professors nowadays don;t teach the real essence of our history.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Filipinos should give more importance to National Heroes Day. Most people forget about this important date.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:08 AM
Rizal didn’t want democracy. He wanted to show how corrupt/mean some gov’t/friars were. Ibang motive talaga. Totoo yung point na Americans chose him..
August 4th, 2008 at 11:09 AM
In the classic debate of Bonifacio vs. Rizal, which figure has your vote for being our national hero?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:10 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:10 AM
American occupation is boring compared to the crazy Japanese and Spanish era.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:11 AM
For me, dates are not that important. What’s important are the events themselves. But in school, most professors only care for the dates. Not what happened.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:12 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Elementary kids are confused as to where the first Christian mass was really held. Iba-iba kasi yung nakalagay sa history books. Saan ba talaga yun?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Is it true that Aguinaldo was the first dictator?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:14 AM
How come Bonifacio understood the French Revolution considering that he was incapable of reading that in the first place?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Ang sad nga lang ng kinahinatnan ng Bonifacio kasi may nabasa ata ako na nasa museum somewhere in Manila yung remains nya na hinukay after nilibing. Tapos nung binomba yung Manila, ayun, wipeout yung mga labi nya.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:22 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:25 AM
What’s being a Filipino anyway? How can you say you’re a Filipino by heart? We are a country composed of mixed culture. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. So what’s Pinoy?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:25 AM
Do you have untold stories of Gen’s. Antonio Luna nad Gregorio del Pilar?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Why do Filipinos give little attention to days like National Heroes Day and Araw ng Kagitingan? They should treat them as memorial days rather than holidays.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:29 AM
Alam ko lang names Graciano Lopez-Jaena, GomBurZa, Emilio Jacinto. Ewan ko ginawa nila. Sad reality.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:29 AM
Sino yung mga unsung heroes natin noon? Yung mas deserving na matatawag nating bayani kesa kay Bonifacio at Rizal?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:30 AM
Just want to know if Leonor Rivera had really married an Englishman who engineered the earliest railways from Dagupan to Manila?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:31 AM
Saya ng discussion. Mainit habang umuulan dito. Pangit ba talaga si Juan Luna and did he murder his wife? Is it true?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:32 AM
McArthur? Bonifacio’s existence should not be questioned.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:33 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:33 AM
Is it true that almost all of our heroes were freemasons? A mason told me that.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Posible na iniba nila yung bilang to cover their “possible massive” losses.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:35 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:36 AM
Can you tell us something about the capture of Aguinaldo by the Americans? May nakita ba syang advantage sa pagpapaexile at pagtanggap ng pera from the Americans?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:38 AM
If you people were given the choice how do youi want to be executed guillotine, hanging, firing squad, a stab in the heart, or poisoned?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:43 AM
Am I right? Eh ngayon?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:44 AM
We have memorial days for heroes like Diego + Gabriela Silang, Francisco Dagohoy, Sultan Kudarat, Emilio Jacinto, at Gregorio del pilar.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:44 AM
August 4th, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Maybe the guests can dicuss about Rizal’s retraction?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:47 AM
More disturbing historical footnotes..Was Rizal just a fence sitter? Did Aguinaldo set up the deaths of Bonifacio and Antonio Luna?
August 4th, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Is it true that the reason why the colt.45 (the gun) was invented was because the Kanos could not pacify the Moros in Mindanao?

Bakit marami pa ring sinasabing sila ay isang “irish”, “italian”,”german”, “chinese” or “puerto rikan”. Bakit diba nasa “merika” na sila?. Sabi nga ng mga romano. “If you are in Rome do what the romans do”.
Sila ay first class citizen. Pero balik tayo sa bakit “in amerika, there are always italians, germans, russians and puerto rican” Ayaw ba nila silang tawaging isang ‘kano?
Amerika the country is the best the human race have invented. in that case the british have invented.. or the spanish (amerigo de vecpucci).
Cheers mate’ eh!
