When President first launched (with impeccable timing almost perfectly planned to the stellar heights of Sleep Token popularity), there was significant buzz about what the next masked rock band would be.
After the debut EP King Of Terrors in 2025, much of the hype crashed for President as a phoned in electronic rock, voice modded side project from a frontman most people had figured out by EP release. Despite the disappointment, the hype still persisted with a big support role touring with Bad Omens and Beartooth. There was still time to grow.
As 2026 rolled on, new songs were released featured a less modded vocal track and more distinct personality and creativity. “Angel Wings” was the first single to get the naysayers on board as something actually worth hearing. “Doom Loop” was a track that actively turned people onto what President could be. The hype had returned with cautious optimism.
Then came Blood Of Your Empire. The campaigning was over and we have an electronic rock sample pack of what sounds like pre-made beats and repetitive loops with as much personality as an outdated audio software download.
You’ll get occasional guitar riffs and percussion blasts, but the moment doesn’t last as over half of Blood Of Your Empire’s tracklist relies on settling into a groove and hitting cruise control.
The frustration is unavoidable when listening to this album. President’s attempt to feature rap sequences that sound forced and out of place clash with any flow the album tries to setup. The flow itself from track to track in some of the rhythms can be matched by any YouTube royalty free track.
A boring debut LP from a masked leader trying to sound creative but making no statement and going through the motions. Listeners got their hopes up and were left hoping there was something outside of two solid singles.
